Bad Weather Birthday

Not much can be done about the weather on an island in the North Atlantic, but the timing for the rainy, cold blast couldn’t have worked out better as we were able to celebrate Marina’s 22nd birthday in complete comfort and with little travel.

We took her for local pizza & gelato (apparently ice cream is okay with 31° wind chill), just a few klicks from our hotel, and were happy to return to our warm rooms after eating!

Love a local brew and theirs is brewed with “Geysír” bread (see below)

Fun menu, especially for waterfowl enthusiasts

Geysír bread is like a Boston brown bread, molasses sweet, but they cook it for 48 hours in Dutch ovens in ground that is geothermally warmed for somewhere north of the restaurant. The bread and beer together were outstanding!

No candles, but nice meals for Marina and a much-needed break from travel to just veg.
