Busy day across Vermont

Vermont and New Hampshire are both very pretty when frosted with a little snow. Curvy roads through forests and river bottoms are lined by rock walls or small farms with white houses and red barns. Many of these roads lead to culinary treats.
Our first stop was up the snowy road to Sugarbush Farm, a small family run cheese and maple syrup factory. Learned that we both like the strongest cheeses, especially smoked and horseradish, and that after processing,  the average maple tree only produces one quart.
The view outside the sugar house. What a scenic factory!

Just a short drive to the Vermont Institute of Natural Science where they rehab and house injured raptors. We were the first visitors of the day, so despite the cold, the birds were interactive and noisy, almost like they were glad to see us.

Marina adopted this cute little screech owl.

got fish?
Next stop was just up the road in Norwich, home of King Arthur Flour, Daphne's favorite, so obviously ours too! Been milling wheat since 1790 and offer baking classes as well as tasty treats.

This is the slow way to biscuits.

And this is when you decide today is no longer a Lose It day.

But wait, there's still more. Waterbury is home to Ben and Jerry's! They only do about 250,000 pints per day, but are currently retooling to double that. Flavor graveyard is cute, but you really only do the tour for the tasting and today's flavor was Marina's fave.

Wonder if she'll look this excited at Gettysburg?
And of course, there's the scenery along the way.
