Bottlenecked

Eagle Plains  is about midway between Dawson and Inuvik and the only gas, food and lodging along the way. For reference, gasoline is $6.70/gallon.
Also where we learned that everyone knows the Tuk highway is opened and wants to dip their toes in the Arctic Ocean. Dern tourists filled the motel, bar and restaurant. Busy, busy... crowded and noisy.
When we were through 5 years ago it was just us, some other hunters and truck drivers.
Chaffs my pioneering spirit a bit when the route is crowded. Like the adventurers of the 19th century, just like the idea that maybe we were the first to see or stand in a place, just looks like we're too late, especially with only one road in...
So we were forced to camp, which was fine as we were well-provisioned for that and despite the cold, wet 39° weather were efficiently tucked away in 15 minutes.
Beers and most of a bottle of camping fluid kept us cozy and comfortable.

Pretty dern chilly but had warming fluid

Camp robber was too late...
