In to Whitehorse

Good travel day along the Alaska Highway. Can't leave Watson Lake without exploring the sign post forest...

Then fished the Little Rancheria River...

And the Smart River. All the miles and hours of travel were spent researching and learning angling as opposed to fishing and are beginning to pay off. When we reach a stream we spend time looking for bugs in vegetation, turning over stones in the stream and watching the fish and current before deciding on a fly and presentation.
Fooled this Smart River grayling after carefully dropping a nymph into the target zone in the grass at the bottom of the photo which took nearly 2 minutes of drift and mending.
Great fight, quick photo, cold beer and move on!

Rolled in to Whitehorse ready for a beer and steak. Found a Pingo Pale Ale which was appropriate since we're climbing pingos next week plus a yummy steak.
Yukon - larger than life...
