Dempster Highway

The Dempster Highway is the only road into  northern Yukon and NWT and is entirely gravel, so it's dusty when dry and mucky otherwise. We got mucky, but that's okay since it traverses amazing terrains and environments.

Did some stream side entomology and found grayling in Wolf Creek...

Then stopped at 126km to fire Kali's ashes over the tundra where she pointed her first willow ptarmigan one day short of exactly five years ago.  Only time the sun shone the entire day just happened to be during that little ceremony/celebration which included leaving her cache with her amazing story by the roadside and a tribute shot of Famous Grouse, along with a long prayer of thanks.

Kali covers the tundra one last time...

Sunshine on her cache...

Stopped in the Ogilvie River for more grayling before heading on for Eagle Plains.
