The Middle Pools

Day three weather started off pretty nice and we headed west along the Tungnaá to a very pretty spot in pursuit of more char. Fish in places like this and any fish are just a bonus…

Nonni scouting for fish

Just as the fish were starting to rise and we switched to dry flies the wind fired up and the weather turned…
So we moved further downstream. Nonni pulled over and suggested I hop out and try some “solo Icelandic fishing,” and I was happy to oblige! While he and Tom moved about a half mile downstream I got to attempt to learn the Tungnaá without guidance. Such pretty country…

After a few hundred yards and some experimentation caught a nice 16” char. Even figured out how to set up the phone with timer (perhaps more challenging than the fish).

Further downstream Tom hooked up as well!

Weather continued to decline, so it was time to move further into the Highlands and try something different…
