Little Bighorn Battlefield

Takes a while to get anywhere in MT but the drive through badlands, the Yellowstone River Valley, and miles of wheat is beautiful. Did the tour of the battlefield which is well laid out and really provides a hands on view of the challenges and errors of the day. Marina had more"why" questions than I could answer but the takeaway was this was truly the beginning of the end of the Indian Wars, as Custer's defeat brought the full force of the USA to bear on the Plains and western tribes. If weather permits, we will track the flight of the Nez Perce also.
